How to Play

Kulami is a territory game of constrained placement. Each move changes the score on one tile and also dictates the line your opponent must answer on next.

Turn Rules

The first marble can go on any empty hole.
After that, you must reply on the same row or the same column as your opponent's previous move.
You may not use the tile your opponent just used.
You may not use the tile you used on your own previous turn.
The move does not need to be adjacent. Gaps in the row or column are allowed as long as the hole is empty and on the correct line.
The board tint shows whether each tile is currently red, black, or tied, and the latest tiles used by each player stay marked.

Scoring

Every wooden tile is worth its number of holes. A 5-hole tile is worth 5 points, a 3-hole tile is worth 3 points, and so on.
At the end, count red and black marbles on each tile separately. The player with the strict majority wins that tile's full value.
If both players have the same number of marbles on a tile, that tile is tied and awards no points to either side.
The scoreboard totals update live so you can see the current tile score before the board is finished.
If Largest Region or Line Bonus is enabled, the bonus added is the difference between the two players' totals in that category, not the raw total itself.

Game End

The game ends when every hole is filled or when the active player has no legal move.
When the board locks early, only the tile majorities and any enabled variant bonuses matter. Unfilled holes are simply ignored.
